The Kindle by Amazon currently offers 3 different models. Features and price points vary on the Kindle. Kindle users are largely limited to obtaining book titles exclusively from Amazon.
The Kobo is an eReader offered by Borders Books. The Kobo currently is offered with 100 book titles pre-loaded. See the Borders website or go to a Borders store for more details.
The Nook from Barnes and Noble currently is offered in two different models. A Nook eBook Reader allows users to read entire books for free while inside Barnes and Noble stores.
Sony offers 3 different eBook Readers with various features. Sony Readers can obtain book titles and other content from a variety of sources.
The Ectaco Jetbook and Jetbook Lite eBook Readers use reflective LCD-TFT screens which are readable in direct sunlight and low light conditions. The Jetbook series offers users fast page turning performance, multi language dictionary feature, open source for book title purchases which now includes the Barnes and Noble option! Capable of holding 1000 titles, both the Jetbook and Jetbook Lite have expandable memory card options. The Jetbook Lite operates for up to 22 hours on 4 AA batteries, and the unit will accept rechargable AA batteries!
