assisted living facility structures. In the State of
Oregon, AFCH's are limited to no more than 5
residents; the more homelike setting and
affordability are both positives when
considering assisted living options.
Oregon Adult Foster Care Home providers and
primary caregivers are required to:
  • Complete a basic training course and
    pass an exam
  • Be physically and mentally capable of
    providing care
  • Submit to and pass a criminal
    background check
  • Provide care in a home that meets
    structural and safety requirements.
Oregon Adult Foster Care Homes are licensed, inspected and monitored by the Oregon
Department of Human Services, Seniors and People with Disabilities and Area Agency on Aging
offices. AFCH licenses are good for one year and licenses will not be granted before an on-site
inspection is conducted and all other prerequisites are met.
